Naturopathic Medicine is a Holistic system of medicine with a focus on addressing the underlying and root-causes of disease. We are trained as Primary Care Physicians but also understand the healing power of nature. Depending on the scope and licensing in each State we utilize modalities such as; nutrition, lifestyle and behavioral counseling, pharmaceuticals, manual therapies/Naturopathic manipulations, hydrotherapy, botanical medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, and more.
Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) undergo 4 years of undergraduate school and 4 years of Doctoral training from an accredited Naturopathic Medical school.
We are guided by there 6 key principles;
First Do No Harm Medicine of all kinds is meant to help, not harm. NDs start with the least invasive options first, which will be different for everyone depending on severity of disease and the person's constitution. There is a time and a place for higher force interventions and having the right team in place is part of this principle.
The Healing Power of Nature Naturopathic Doctors understand the innate wisdom of the body and the healing power of nature. NDs consider the environment that we live in as well as the components of botanicals and food that can help support the body.
Identify and Treat the Causes Naturopathic Medicine is a root cause, holistic system of medicine. NDs do a thorough investigation of one's health to better identify these possible root causes to remove the obstacles to cure or support the systems necessary to promote healing.
Doctor as Teacher Docere means teacher. As NDs, we understand the importance of empowering out patients and clients through knowledge and better understanding their body and state of being.
Treat the Whole Person Naturopathic Medicine is a holistic system with an understanding that mind, body, and environment is all connected. NDs consider all aspects of the whole person including their social, economic, career, environment, lifestyle, and other factors of health.
Prevention Whenever possible, it is always better to prevent vs treat disease. By taking a look at the whole person we can make adjustments to lifestyle to help prevent chronic illness.
